Vitiligo Leucoderma

Ayurvedic Doctor for vitiligo - Vitiligo is an acquired cutaneous disorder characterized by white patches surrounded by areas of normal pigmentation. The major pigment of the skin is called melanin.

Melanin is synthesized from the amino acid Tyrosine by the action of an oxidizing and copper containing enzyme Tyrosinase. In Vitiligo or Leucoderma the melanocytes in localized areas of the body stop producing melanin. Acharya Charak named this disease as Shvitra.
